The Correct Connection Method for Blasting Lines

Update:22-03-2024

The correct connection method for mining blasting lines is crucial for ensuring the safety of mining operations. The following are the specific steps and precautions:

Selection of Appropriate Blasting Lines: Firstly, it is essential to choose blasting lines that comply with regulations. Typically, copper or iron core insulated wires should be used, while aluminum core wires and bare wires are strictly prohibited. These insulated wires possess excellent resistance and insulation properties, ensuring safety during the blasting process.

Preparation Before Connection: Ensure that all connection points are clean and free of oxides and grease. For detonator leg wires, any rust or dirt must be removed.

Connecting the Blasting Lines: The joints between the blasting busbar and connecting wires, connecting wires and detonator leg wires, as well as between leg wires, must be twisted tightly and suspended in the air. Contact with conductive objects such as rails, metal mesh, wire ropes, and scraper conveyors is strictly prohibited. This connection method helps prevent current leakage or short circuits, thus ensuring the stability and safety of the blasting process.

Using Fixed Blasting Lines: During tunnel excavation, blasting lines should be hung as needed and the use of fixed blasting lines should be avoided. However, under special circumstances, this restriction can be waived after taking safety measures.

Insulation and Wrapping: If the insulation layer of the blasting line is damaged, it must be wrapped promptly to prevent leakage or short circuits. Additionally, blasting lines, cables, wires, and signal lines should be hung separately on both sides of the roadway. If they need to be hung on the same side, the busbar should be hung below the cable with a certain distance maintained.

Inspection After Connection: After the connection is completed, the blaster and the team leader should separately confirm the number of detonators that have been wired. Only when the number of detonators counted by both parties is the same and the remaining explosive quantity matches can the connection between the leg wires and the busbar be carried out.

Please note that when connecting mining blasting lines, it is imperative to follow relevant safety operating procedures and ensure that all personnel involved possess the necessary operational skills and qualifications. Additionally, for any uncertain or complex connection situations, it is recommended to consult professional blasting engineers or relevant institutions for more detailed guidance and advice.
